Student Pledge of Commitment

As I proceed down the long path of learning entering this phase of education at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, I commit to lifelong learning.

Because I believe that each patient should be treated as a whole person with the physician serving to facilitate the patient’s own natural recovery mechanism, I commit to the philosophy of osteopathic medicine.

Because I value the knowledge and achievements of those physicians who have preceded me and those who will become my respected teachers and colleagues, I commit to the osteopathic profession.

By developing my skills with respect, compassion and empathy for others and by valuing cultural differences and diversity, I commit to the delivery of quality health care.

To recognize both my weaknesses and strengths to strive to enhance those qualities that will inspire confidence and outfit me for skilled, compassionate patient care and to support and uphold the osteopathic profession and the principles upon which it stands I do pledge.
