The Phillips Medal of Public Service Awarded to

The Joe Burrow Foundation

The Phillips Medal of Public Service is named for the late J. Wallace and Jody Galbreath Phillips to recognize the contributions of a couple who did so much for Ohio University, higher education and the people of Ohio. The award was first bestowed in 1976 by the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine–now known as the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine–and it remains the college’s highest honor.

The Phillips Medal of Public Service is hereby conferred upon the Joe Burrow Foundation in recognition of its exemplary commitment to serving vulnerable populations and advancing the well-being of communities in need. Established by Joe Burrow and his parents, Jimmy and Robin Burrow, the foundation has demonstrated outstanding leadership in addressing critical challenges, including food insecurity and mental health, through thoughtful, community-centered initiatives.

Guided by compassion, integrity and a steadfast dedication to service, the foundation works to expand access to essential resources and create meaningful opportunities for individuals and families facing hardship. Its enduring impact reflects the highest ideals of public service and embodies the mission and values of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. In honoring the Joe Burrow Foundation, we recognize a model of service that inspires hope, fosters resilience and strengthens the fabric of communities.
