New Program Hopes to Increase Diabetes Education and Prevention
In 2021-22, the Diabetes Institute at Heritage College launched the Ohio University Employee Health Project, which focuses on integrating practice care management at area health systems and programs that support university employee wellness with a goal of increasing referrals to and utilization of wellness programs. A referral process and tracking system have now been established and a resource toolkit has been developed, outlining university resources. The goal is for OHIO employees seeking care from providers to be referred to appropriate programs. The DI is hopeful that this will create an ongoing stream of referrals to diabetes prevention and education programs.
